Homecoming is always a great event! The football program takes great pride in making Homecoming successful. We know it’s important to add to the excitement by being victorious. It’s important the students, alumni, and faculty. We had the honor of hearing that message through one of our distinguished alums, Dr. Rhadi Ferguson. His message really inspired the team to play with greatness. Our team thrives off emotions. We played with tremendous effort and it’s always critical for us to stay in the moment. At that particular moment, winning on homecoming for our alums, students, and faculty members was our motivation.
We had a slow start but was able to get a score right before half time. We were able to go into locker room at half time and make some major adjustments. The most important adjustment was to play with a much better tempo. The offensive line did a great job opening tremendous running lanes for the running backs. Terrance Lefall and Aquanius Freeman were very patient in finding the holes and ran with passion. Randy Liggins did a great job at making plays in key area of the game to keep the offense moving. Defensively, we had another outstanding performance by Julien David. The defense played with a “bend but don’t break” mentality. They were able to come up with some big stops and contain Morgan State to 143 yards rushing. Special teams were huge once again. Another terrific performance by standout freshman Devin Rollins, as he was able to block another punt this season. Overall, we played solid in all three phases.
Morgan State is a relentless team. They continued to fight back after being behind two scores. They had some big plays late in the ball game and started to gain momentum. As a team, we can’t have turnovers and allow our opponents back into the game after we establish a significant lead. We will continue to work on finishing. This will help us become a much better football team.
Our goal this week is to stay poised and play our brand of football. We have to finish strong. We can not get distracted.
LET’S GO BISON!
