bison teamGreat win for the Bison last Saturday! This victory puts us closer to our ultimate goal. I am most excited to see this team play four quarters. We played with a sense of urgency, and it was a total team effort. We played well in all three phases of the game.

On offense, we have two great backs that took advantage of their opportunities. With the absence of Terrance LaFell, Aquanius Freeman and William Parker were outstanding. They displayed excellent vision, toughness, and big play capabilities. Also, Randy Liggins played amazingly. Randy is doing a great job at minimizing his errors, and plays with extreme confidence. Most importantly, as a unit, we have an offense line that takes pride in their role. We feel comfortable that our running game will continue to improve.

We feel good about our quarterback situation. Jamie Cunningham showed poise and confidence in the Morehouse and Rutgers game. Jamie has a bright future at Howard and we look forward to seeing his growth. It’s exciting to see Randy have success. He is a hard worker and his early success is well deserved. These two young men give this team a chance to win every week.

On defense, we play really well as a unite. Young Damon Gresham continues to impress the staff with his ability to rush the quarterback. Behind the leadership of Keith Pough and Julien David, defensively there is indeed a commitment to limiting our opponent’s running game. On special teams, we have solid performance from Matt Poulin, Jack Fleck, Devin Rollins, William Parker, and DJ Tyson.

Our morale is steadily climbing. We understanding that we have a long way to go. We consider this month to be “The Hunt for October.” We play with extreme confidence and we take tremendous pride in playing for the Howard University student population, administrators, and alums.

This weekend’s goal is simple just like every other week…WIN! We play to win. Our ultimate goal is to be MEAC Champions. We will stick to our philosophy: 1) Ball control on offense 2) Be very disruptive and aggressive on defense to force turnovers 3) Play very reckless on special teams.
